This play allowed me the great opportunity to talk and meet with a variety of people who really LOVE what they do. Meeting and talking with Ms. T.D. inspired me to really keep pushing for my dream. She has surpassed the odds and is still making it. She started her own company called T. D. Ballard Productions, a Christian production company. She said as a female, it is tough sometimes getting people to see you as a leader and to listen to you. As a double minority, being black and a female, she said women have to be really good and experienced to be accepted. She continually takes classes and training to advance her skills. That’s what I plan on doing more too. Fine-tuning my craft to be the best I can be.
I also got to chat with comedian, actor, and recording artist D. Elli$, who played the friend and jokester in the play. D. Elli$ has made multiple comedic appearances on TV, and he is a serious trip. Even during our interview, he had me cracking up with his Tyler Perry Madea impersonations and jokes about the Dallas traffic and kids.
Overall, this story was a great experience for me. I got to really work on a story that involved, to me, true Dallas celebs working for a great cause. I wish them all the best.
The play’s published article will be added soon (waiting on my editor still) hopefully with the rest of my work online, so that you all can read the interesting feature-length story.
